"I Do" ... but, When?

During the last several weeks, we've been crazy busy, helping our couples who are planning to get married in 2020 make the really difficult decision about whether to postpone or downsize their weddings. This global pandemic has left couples feeling unmoored, for sure, as they find themselves having to re-review vendor contracts, while re-evaluating plans they thought were signed, sealed, and delivered.

To guide us through these challenging conversations, Johnny and I have relied on the scientific evidence surrounding how to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. We realized that, since we'd based our own decision-making on the science, for both our work and home life; we should continue that thread in support of our couples. We've found this approach to be really helpful to our couples and their families, so we wanted to share it more widely.

We've found ourselves referencing one article in particular for discussions, which presents the evidence in a clear and concise fashion -- so much easier to grasp quickly and apply to whatever your particular circumstance: "The Risks - Know Them - Avoid Them,” written by Dr. Erin Bromage, a Comparative Immunologist and Professor of Biology (specializing in Immunology) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

We've found that understanding the science helps the puzzle pieces to fall into place more assuredly, while also serving to further strengthen our relationship with our couples. A wedding is founded on hope and the belief that together, a couple will face whatever challenges life throws their way. While that moment has arrived early ... we want to help our couples feel confident and empowered about whatever decision they ultimately make.

In fact, we've outlined some amazing options that will allow them to have their wedding cake and eat it, too, so to speak -- check out our recent blog post, “3 Big Ideas: Intimate Weddings During a Global Pandemic,” so love won’t have to wait until the coast is clear for larger celebrations (when masks won't be the favorite accessory).

2020 will be remembered as a year of unprecedented change and possibility ... and a year when we learned that we really are always better together, helping one another, while re-imagining a new, unique, and beautiful way forward.

#LoveWins.
