Multi-Cultural Wedding Day at the AVAM
Nothing is more romantic than seeing a groom look adoringly at his bride, which is exactly the way Amir looks at Shoshana. We couldn't agree more that Shoshana was truly a vision on her wedding day in a gorgeous white Jenny Yoo crepe fit and flare skirt with button embellishment and matching floral embroidered lace top, only enhanced by her radiant smile. The couple jokes that they first met during freshman year at Tufts University and then proceeded to sparingly even speak to one another for the next two years! But, once they both landed in Paris on a study abroad experience, their love story blossomed; and surrounded by the love of their family and closest friends (many Tufts alumni!) at the incomparable American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, Shoshana and Amir exchanged vows to seal their forever. Their adorable flower children led the way.
The ceremonial backdrop was extremely special, blending elements of the couple's Jewish and Persian faiths, while honoring their cultural heritages and families: the ketubah and aghd name wedding contract signings; a chuppah canopy of lace and flowers complementing the bride's bouquet represented the home the couple will create through their marriage, with blessings to help them build a family filled with love and protection; and their aghd sofrah wedding table was laden with foods and ceremonial objects signifying the shared journey of marriage the couple is embarking on: a mirror to represent eternity, two candlesticks for light, foods symbolizing fertility, coins for wealth and prosperity, and honey to bring sweetness for the couple. And yes, he broke the glass! One of my favorite moments was the sugar veil ceremony, which brought the women on both sides together to lift a veil over the couple's heads, while rubbing sugar cones to rain blessings of sweetness on the couple's marriage.
More joyful moments ensued on the dance floor, especially when the hora dance began and the couple was lifted high to joyful hoots (equal parts exhilarating and terrifying!), followed by each of their parents being lifted to the sky as well! An amazing celebration all around and we wish this amazing couple every possible happiness!
